The Best the Jersey Shore Has To Offer
At the tip of New Jersey about one mile off the coast lies a small

coined by a
local resident many summers ago.

The island is home to a couple of thousand year-round residents but swells to 35,000 during spring, summer and fall seasons. Known for its beautiful spacious beaches, tall dunes and clean warm Atlantic Ocean water, the beach is one of the main attractions of this island community featuring multi-million dollar homes and lovely in town shopping areas. Avalon/Stone Harbor is perfect for a relaxing, refreshing, unhurried atmosphere in a safe family environment.
The many restaurants and eating establishments serve a wide range of foods, from pizza, cheese steaks, fresh seafood specialties and most everything in between. Local clubs and taverns offer a variety of nightlife with jazz, rock, blues and country musicians. For the more romantic or laid back, there are piano bars, coffee and juice bars, ice cream parlors,and miniature golf courses throughout the island.
If you want action, across the street is a park with tennis and lighted basketball courts, a playground, baseball and soccer/football fields and tennis and basketball practice areas. Water sports including water and jet skiing, and all types of fishing, are available right on the island.Exercise options include bike rentals, health clubs, and pleasant areas for jogging. There's even a bird sanctuary and wild life preserve!
Within 5 miles of the Beachcomber are some of the finest golf courses in the state. The courses are usually open year round and include driving ranges and clubhouses.
You won't need to leave the island but if you want to wander a bit, nearby drives include: Atlantic City (30 minutes) renowned for its' casinos, restaurants and celebrity shows; Cape May (15 minutes) known for quaint Victorian architecture, trendy shopping and restaurants; the Wildwood Boardwalk (20 minutes) for amusement park lovers, offering "wild" rides for all ages, as well as traditional boardwalk games and eateries; Ocean City's Boardwalk (20 minutes) provides a smaller, quieter more relaxed amusement park environment, with a gentler experience for young children.
Do a lot or do nothing at all - the choice is yours. The island of Avalon/Stone Harbor - "Cooler by the Mile" is yours to do with as you please.
