Enjoying the Avalon Boardwalk

New Jersey is home to 18 boardwalks, and these features continue to attract plenty of visitors each year. The Avalon Boardwalk is one that you should not overlook, whether you are a New Jersey local or you are visiting the state on vacation. Here’s how to get the most out of a picturesque stroll down one of the Garden State’s true hidden gems:
Start at 21st Street or 32nd Street
If you want to get the most out of the boardwalk, consider starting at either 21st Street or 32nd Street. These represent the two ends of the boardwalk, and they are convenient access points. While you can enter on streets between these two endpoints, it makes sense to stroll from one side of the boardwalk all the way to the other. If you need to visit the restroom before starting your walk, it might be best to start at 32nd Street. Walk a few blocks down the boardwalk from this access point, and you’ll find a public washroom at 30th Street at the Community Hall.
Take Advantage of Free Parking
You should also know that parking is generally free in Avalon, and you should be able to find a spot near any of the boardwalk’s access points. If you need to park close to the boardwalk due to health concerns or disabilities, this shouldn’t be much of a challenge. There are also ramps located on most entry points, ensuring plenty of accessibility for those in wheelchairs. Speaking of freebies, you can also enjoy access to free sunscreen if you left yours at home. Just keep an eye out for yellow sunscreen dispensers near the beach and boardwalk area.
Remember Your Beach Tags
While forgetting your sunscreen is no big deal, one thing you should bring to the boardwalk is your beach tag. In Avalon, you need a paid beach tag to access the beach, and the beach will look pretty tempting as you walk along the boardwalk. Thankfully, you will not have to pay a dime for your beach tags if you stay at the Beachcomber Resort, located conveniently close to the boardwalk.
Things to Do Along the Boardwalk
Rest assured that there is much more to this boardwalk than meets the eye. Instead of simply walking up and down the half-mile stroll, be sure to visit local ice cream stores, concession stands, gift shops, and other attractions. If you’re in the mood for a sit-down meal, you will also find plenty of restaurants along the boardwalk.
